Project Designer

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced design professional to step into a leadership role with a company that values creativity, expertise, and innovation. 

As a Project Designer, you'll gain hands-on experience across a range of industries while learning and working with experienced professionals who are committed to your growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, CET preferred
  • Strong design sensibility with attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Enthusiasm for learning, growing, and contributing to a collaborative team

Responsibilities

Design Support & Space Planning

  • Assist in the development of space plans, furniture layouts, and product specifications
  • Support the selection of finishes, fabrics, and materials for client projects
  • Prepare design presentations and sample boards in coordination with the Account Manager
  • Produce accurate drawings and documentation using various design platforms and planning guides

Project Coordination & Process Support

  • Collaborate closely with Account Managers throughout the project lifecycle
  • Review product specifications and documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Help prepare installation drawings and support team handoffs

Communication & Teamwork

  • Participate in internal design reviews and project meetings
  • Present design concepts to internal teams with clarity and professionalism
  • Maintain organized project files and support documentation throughout each project phase

Business Development

Contract Design seeks a motivated self-starter with Interior Design industry experience, especially in business development. The ideal candidate prioritizes client needs, communicates clearly, builds strong relationships, and creates realistic, client-focused project scopes. Applicants interested in a long-term role will receive priority consideration.

Business Development will:

  • Create and support Contract Design’s growth strategy through business development activities.
  • Create and maintain strong client business relationships
  • Market, promote, and sell all Contract Design products and services
  • Coordinate with Account Managers and Gwen to ensure business development activities are progressing as planned and to track their status.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a resource for Contract Design Spokane business development activities.
  • Create and maintain credibility and visibility for Contract Design.
  • For our customers and key influencing communities (architects, designers, project managers, developers, etc.), develop and execute a strong business development plan that drives more preference and specification sales, ultimately leading to Contract Design sales, which supports the company’s strategy.
  • Develop/nurture key relationships.
  • Manage research on prospective clients, partnering teams, market areas, and other relevant topics.
  • Initiate contact with client prospects and manage the follow-up.
  • Prepare status reports on business development activities: actions, schedules, prospects, events, and a monthly forecast of expected sales volume by account to Gwen monthly.
  • Assist Contract Design Marketing in creating proposals, marketing materials, statements of qualifications, and other literature as required.
  • Develop strong relationships with the Contract Design team.
  • Lead finding and tracking through trade publications and procurement websites.
  • Participate as needed in client visits to enhance customer experience.
  • Participate in professional organizations, conferences, trade shows, and events as appropriate.

Skills and experience for this role include:

  • Demonstrated willingness and experience in selling skills, account penetration, strategic selling, conceptual selling, issues-based selling, consultative selling, as well as the ability to develop/cultivate business opportunities.
  • Proven ability to network and build relationships with key A&D, Real Estate, Project Management, Design influencers, and existing customers.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to collaborate and negotiate effectively.
  • Innovative, self-starter with self-confidence and ability to represent CD in a professional and ethical manner, gaining a high level of confidence from a diverse group of highly critical customers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven success in building long-term relationships with customers and partners, as well as establishing relationships at senior decision-making levels within organizations.
  • Thorough knowledge of Contract Design’s products, services, and culture, as well as the ability to distinguish Contract Design’s products and services from the competition.
  • Ability to travel and perform other job duties as needed.
